A surge in remote work due to the COVID-19 pandemic has spurred increased use of Teams meeting and chat capabilities.
As a result, Microsoft has prioritized improvements to Teams meetings and chat, with several updates released in recent months.
These changes could make meetings and chat more useful for organizations with large numbers of remote employees.
Teams still lags behind competitors like Zoom and Google Meet in supporting very large meetings.

Microsoft Teams is a service included in all Microsoft 365 and Office 365 Enterprise suites that offers organizations group-based collaboration spaces with persistent chat, voice and video meetings, integrated access to several Microsoft 365 services, and connections to many third-party services. While Microsoft has highlighted the collaboration capabilities of Teams, many recent updates have focused on enhancing meeting and chat functionality as organizations impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic conduct more remote meetings and presentations.
