Analyst ReportUnderstanding Entra Global Secure Access
- Entra Global Secure Access simplifies and secures both remote access and Web access and enables universal conditional access for any application.
- The Entra Private Access service, which is part of Global Secure Access, offers remote application access from popular device platforms, potentially replacing DirectAccess and VPN solutions.
- The Entra Internet Access service, also part of Global Secure Access, helps secure and limit Web traffic.
- The services are available separately and each requires its own paid per-user license.
Microsoft Entra Global Secure Access is a platform designed to provide a common infrastructure of network services that can be used to enable applications to be accessed from anywhere, secure Internet access, and optimize Microsoft 365 traffic. Included are the Entra Private Access and Internet Access services—each licensed separately—that share this infrastructure, as well as a common on-device client and remote network (branch office) connectivity options. By integrating Entra with these two separate roles, Microsoft enables what Microsoft refers to as universal conditional access, which allows a single set of conditions to apply whether users are accessing on-premises or cloud applications, Web sites, and Microsoft 365 traffic. Private Access and Internet Access each offer an interesting value, but many features remain in preview.
