Analyst ReportUnderstanding Power Pages
- Power Pages is a low- to no-code platform for building and hosting simple to moderately complex Web sites, typically for external-facing use.
- It includes components for building, hosting, and securing sites, a Copilot, and administration features.
- It requires Dataverse, and extra costs may arise if certain data connectors are used or Dataverse capacity must be increased.
Power Pages, part of the Microsoft 365 Power Platform, allows the creation of certain types of Web sites without relying on expensive development team resources by enabling citizen developers (also referred to as makers), who are motivated to build sites but are not expert developers. Sites implemented using Power Pages can access and modify organizational data to simplify common processes, typically for external users, that are not addressed by IT-developed or third-party solutions. Using Power Pages requires some design skills for working with Web site UIs and connecting them properly to data sources. Skilled makers and pro developers using Power Pages can work with the underlying code rather than relying on the visual designer. Administrator oversight and management are required for governance.
