Analyst ReportUnified Access Gateway Gets Service Pack
A second service pack (SP2) for the Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG) 2010 has been released. The UAG network gateway software provides secure remote access to corporate networks for remote employees and business partners over a variety of network protocols. In addition to fixes, SP2 expands support to the latest mobile devices and improves user authentication by allowing multi-domain connections and Office forms-based authentication. However, updating UAG to SP2 must be done by installing several updates in the correct order.
New Mobile Device Support
UAG supports access from a wide variety of endpoint Web browsers and mobile devices. UAG 2010 SP2 expands mobile device support to include the following devices that support Exchange ActiveSync and mobile Web application browsing:
- Windows Phone 7.5
- iOS 5.x on Apple’s iPad and iPhone
- Android 4.x on tablets and phones
Active Directory Improvements
With UAG 2010 SP2, Microsoft has changed how UAG uses Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) 2.0 for authentication and how UAG publishes the AD FS 2.0 server.
