Analyst ReportVisio 2010 Gains Ribbon, SharePoint Service
Visio 2010 will be released in May 2010 with new user interface and layout features, such as the Ribbon, new business process analysis tools, and Visio Services for SharePoint, which allows Visio diagrams to be shared in Web browsers without requiring the Visio application or Visio viewer to be installed on a client computer. Some of the new features will require Visio 2010 Professional or Premium (a new edition for 2010), and SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Client Access Licenses (CALs) are required for each user accessing Visio Services.
Visio for Business Diagrams
Visio is Microsoft’s client application for creating business and technical diagrams. Microsoft acquired Visio in 2000, branding it as an Office application, and has steadily added features over several releases. The current release is Visio 2007, available in Standard and Professional Editions; both editions have the same interface, but Premium has more templates, more advanced layout tools, and can create diagrams that connect to data sources and display the data graphically.
