Analyst ReportWindows 10 First Anniversary Update
The Windows 10 Anniversary Update will be available starting in the third quarter of 2016, marking the first anniversary of the OS’s general availability. This feature upgrade (previously code-named Redstone) improves security features and delivers browser and user interface enhancements. Although the proposed feature improvements look good on paper, customers should not expect all advertised features to appear, as some may be cut to meet the schedule.
Security Enhancements
Feature upgrade improvements of most interest to organizations will help protect data on Windows 10 devices, reduce risks from compromised devices, and strengthen authentication.
Enterprise Data Protection watches for inappropriate data sharing, such as sharing enterprise data with people or devices outside of the organization. Employee attempts to share such enterprise data can be blocked, allowed after a warning, or allowed without a warning.
Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection is a new service that sends telemetry data to a Microsoft-hosted service to create behavior profiles and alert IT staff to anomalies. For example, an alert could be generated if suspicious administrative actions are taken on a Windows 10 device.
