  • Windows 10 21H1 became generally available on May 18, 2021, but availability will initially be throttled for most devices.
  • This version contains surprisingly few new features, but bug fixes may improve stability for some remote work scenarios.
  • Some features originally planned for Windows 10x (a now-canceled edition of Windows 10) will be incorporated into future Windows 10 versions, likely making 21H2 more disruptive, so organizations may want to hold on to 20H2 for as long as feasible.

Windows 10 version 21H1 became generally available via the Semi-Annual Channel (SAC) on May 18, 2021. It contains bug fixes, but few changes and new features, and will only be supported until Dec. 13, 2022 (18 months). Organizations deploying Windows Enterprise and Education editions should use this version to pilot and evaluate the features but consider getting to and staying on 20H2 for as long as possible until all the coming changes can be analyzed for their impact on the organization.
