Internet Explorer 10 (IE10), the latest version of the Windows Web browser, was released in 95 languages for download and installation on Windows 7 in late Feb. 2013. The release puts Microsoft’s best-supported browser on the OS version that many organizations are deploying as the corporate standard. Microsoft has provided IE10 deployment blocking tools for organizations that need to limit deployment of IE10 to avoid compatibility problems with Web applications or to ensure that all users have the same browser edition.

Improvements Address Performance, Standards, and Privacy

IE10 was first available with Windows 8, Windows RT, and Windows Server 2012 in Sept. 2012; it is now generally available for Windows 7 SP1 (x86 and x64) and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (x64). IE10 will not be available for Windows Vista, XP, or Windows Server 2003.

Although the appearance of IE has not changed substantially between IE9 and IE10, improvements to IE10 address three key areas: performance, compliance with Web standards, and privacy. (For an illustration, see “IE10 on Windows 7“.)
