Windows 10 version 1511 has received a six-month extension of support for some customers. This timeline shows anticipated release and retirement dates of Windows client OS versions for enterprises. Windows 10 versions and their support periods are shown for three servicing options: the original Current Branch for Business (CBB); the Semi-annual Channel (SAC), which has replaced the CBB; and the Long-Term Servicing Channel (labeled Long-Term in the chart).

By Nov. 2017, Windows 10 version 1507 and 1511 were both scheduled to have left support, which meant these versions would no longer get quality (security and bug fix) updates. However, on Nov. 14, 2017, Microsoft announced that Windows 10 version 1511, Education and Enterprise editions, would continue to receive quality updates for an additional six months, until Apr. 2018. It is not clear how the extension of support for version 1511 affects Windows 10 version 1607, which is currently scheduled to leave support in Feb. 2018.

The next Windows 10 version available via the SAC will likely be 1803, which will become generally available in approximately Mar. or Apr. 2018. Microsoft does not plan another Windows 10 version via the Long-Term channel before 2019. Microsoft does not plan to update Windows 10 versions in the Long-Term channel for new processors in the latest devices, so a Long-Term version will likely be incompatible with newly released devices that arrive before the end of Extended support for the version.
