Windows Enterprise Licenses Added, Renamed

Two new Windows 10 Enterprise licensing options for midsize and large organizations deliver subscription licenses for Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection, a technology that adds a post-breach layer of protection to Windows 10 clients. Concurrently, Microsoft changed the names of existing Windows 10 Enterprise licensing options. The changes, effective Aug. 2016, could prompt some organizations to move up from Windows Pro to Enterprise and could induce some existing Windows Enterprise customers to layer on additional subscription licenses for added security.

This report focuses on new Windows 10 Enterprise license options in programs for midsize and large organizations, including Enterprise Agreements, Select Plus, and Microsoft Products and Services Agreements (MPSAs). A new Windows 10 Enterprise user subscription was also launched in Aug. 2016 for the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) program, but it is intended for small organizations and not covered here.
