Windows Server 1803, the latest Semi-Annual Channel (SAC) version of Windows Server, became available on May 7, 2018. Microsoft is focusing SAC versions of Windows Server on container hosting and new application development scenarios, and releases of the SAC no longer include software-defined data center features like Storage Spaces Direct, software-defined networking, and shielded virtual machines. Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) versions of Windows Server are now recommended for infrastructure and data center roles, with the next version, Windows Server 2019, planned for late 2018.
