Windows Server 2019 will be generally available in the second half of 2018, Microsoft has announced. Planned or likely Windows Server version releases and version retirements are shown here.

Windows Server 2019 is the next Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) version of Windows. LTSC versions of Windows Server are the recommended option for hosting on-premises enterprise software such as SQL Server, Exchange Server, and SharePoint Server, and provide five years of Mainstream support and five years of Extended support. Windows Server 2019 will include the improvements of the preceding Semi-Annual Channel (SAC) versions of Windows Server and is expected to focus on data center roles, containers, security, and Linux interoperability. Like Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019 will offer a Desktop Experience installation option with the Windows graphical user interface (GUI) that is best suited for hosting enterprise software, and a low-profile Server Core installation option that provides only a command prompt at login and is best suited for infrastructure roles such as an Active Directory (AD) Domain Controller or Hyper-V host.
