The Windows Store for Business will become unsupported for Windows 10 devices in early 2023, and it will never be supported on Windows 11. The Store for Business was a Microsoft hosted service that provided a repository for commercial or public applications as well as a private repository of proprietary applications for organizations. Without a replacement, organizations must provide an alternative repository where users can choose and install an organization’s private applications on their devices. Microsoft’s proposed replacement involves the integration of Intune with the Microsoft Store and has made some recent progress.

Stores for Business

The Windows Store for Business was an organizationally curated and controlled private tenancy of the Microsoft-hosted Windows Store (renamed the Microsoft Store) that helped organizations manage public and private applications for Windows 10 devices. It offered an application repository, which held applications packages and manifests so they may be accessed and installed from the Internet, a private resource, or a local resource. Administrators could add or remove applications from the private store, assign or revoke licenses, and add line-of-business applications through a Windows Store for Business portal. Users could select the applications they wanted from those offered via the store’s portal and download and install the application on their device.
