Charts & IllustrationsAzure Data Catalog Search
Azure Data Catalog search and filter capabilities enable users to self-discover organizational, approved data sources for use in business intelligence reporting and application purposes.
In this example, results from a search for purchase order fields (top left), along with other filtering criteria (far left) are displayed as tiles (middle). The tiles contain high-level information, descriptions, and important contacts to help users understand and select the correct data source. When a tile is selected (in this example, the “Task” table), a “Properties” window (far right) displays more detailed information about the data source and provides links to display preview data, metadata, and column information.
Each tile also contains an “Open in…” feature that allows users with proper credentials to potentially open the underlying data in Excel, SQL Server tools, Power BI tools, and Power Query, depending on the particular data source. To access data through other tools, users can copy the connection information (bottom right).
