Two Azure offerings, Azure IoT Suite and Cortana Intelligence Suite, aim to help customers build Big Data solutions. A typical Big Data solution requires the use of several Azure services that must be provisioned, configured, and maintained separately and possibly integrated with custom application code. The suites do not introduce significant new technology, but they provide code samples and templates that pull existing Azure-hosted services together into logical pipelines for each step of a Big Data analysis process.

Azure IoT Suite

Internet of Things (IoT) devices, such as sensors, equipment controllers, and telemetry components, serve a wide range of purposes, such as measuring air conditions; monitoring and controlling manufacturing, automotive, and other mechanical equipment; and enabling automated point-of-sale and kiosk systems. Organizations have been deploying devices that could be classified under the IoT category for many years, but as the deployment rate and capabilities of such devices grow, solutions that collect, analyze, and act on information produced by these devices have become more relevant and advantageous.
