Updates to Project continue to focus primarily on the hosted service, delivering platform updates that improve performance and scale, mobile applications for remote users, and extended customization options for building add-on functionality. Most of the features are exclusive to Project Online, and the few features available to on-premises customers require updated clients and a hybrid connection to Office 365. Going forward, Project Online will continue to receive improvements that make the service more attractive to enterprises; on-premises customers considering a Project Server upgrade might find migrating to Project Online more appealing.
