RoadmapWindows and Office Supportability Matrix
Many combinations of Windows and Office lose security updates and other support in 2025 and 2026, rendering them unsafe for use in organizations because of unpatched vulnerabilities. The accompanying chart shows end-of-support dates for combinations of Windows (left column) and Office (top row). Red cells show when a software version leaves Extended support, normally the end of its supported life. Windows and Office versions that have left support are not shown in this table, including versions of Windows older than the current Windows 10 Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel version and Office 2016.
Windows (left column). Windows 10 Semi-Annual Channel (SAC), the most common OS for enterprises, leaves Extended support Oct. 14, 2025. After that, customers who have not migrated can pay for security fixes for up to three years through the Extended Security Updates (ESU) subscription. However, customers should use ESUs only to buy enough time to finish migration off Windows 10, which might have vulnerabilities that ESUs will not fix.
