Azure Cosmos DB is a brand that covers three distinct NoSQL deployment options. The original core service is a multimodal database offering that supports multiple data formats and open-source languages, allowing developers to work with several different data types in the same service while sharing security settings and replication features across types. The other two offerings, Cosmos DB for MongoDB vCore and Cosmos DB for PostgreSQL, provide native, on-premises offerings that work independently of the Cosmos DB core service.
