Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations Server is Microsoft’s on-premises enterprise resource planning (ERP) and commerce software. The only remaining version of this on-premises product is used for hybrid deployments where a local deployment connects to a centralized cloud deployment.

Near Term (2025)

The latest updates (through 2024 Wave 2) have stopped the reintroduction of features missing from Dynamics AX 2012 R3 software and focus mostly on adding capabilities to remain compatible with the online service. Some features of earlier releases, such as payroll, remain missing, and for these, Microsoft is directing customers to third-party vendors who have developed solutions for the Dynamics 365 cloud service.

Finance is receiving new automated invoice processing and bank reconciliation features to support more complex processes and import bank statements automatically and globalization updates to help with foreign currency management.
