RoadmapDynamics 365 Finance and Operations Timeline
Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations applications have varying support models, based on whether they are online or on-premises.
Finance + Operations (online) receives updates seven times per year. Customers have 90 days to accept an update but can also choose to pause up to three consecutive updates if they conflict with internal efforts like year-end close. However, they must accept at least two updates each year.
Dynamics 365 Operations Server (on-premises) is governed by a Modern life cycle and follows a “one version” update cycle that mimics the online service. Server updates are delivered four times per year (down from seven at the beginning of 2024), and customers have the option to pause an update, but only until the next update arrives. They must accept at least two updates each year. Generally, customers with a combination of on-premises and cloud deployments keep the cloud and on-premises versions in sync. A preview for each version is typically available six weeks before release.
