Load balancing services in Azure distribute incoming network requests for customer applications or resources among multiple hosts in Azure to provide high availability and scalability. Azure network analysis services also help optimize and troubleshoot networks servicing Azure resources.

Product: Load Balancing and Network Analysis

Near Term (2025–2026)

Application Gateway, Front Door, Load Balancer, Traffic Manager, and Network Watcher all continue to receive improvements including integration with Security Copilot and Copilot in Azure to help customers better find and respond to incidents.

However, Content Delivery Network and the initial version of Front Door—renamed Front Door (classic) as of Aug. 2022—are effectively legacy technologies.

As of Aug. 15, 2025, new domains can no longer be onboarded to Front Door (classic).

Long Term (Beyond 2026)

CDN and Front Door (classic) continue their movement toward retirement:

  • Front Door (classic) will be retired on Mar.
