Windows 10
Windows 10 22H2 will be the last Feature Update for Windows 10, and it will leave support in Oct. 2025. To receive security updates after this date, organizations (and consumers) will have to purchase Windows Extended Security Updates (ESUs). Therefore, Windows 10 is effectively deprecated.
Overview
Windows 11 is now Microsoft’s focus for all client OS development. Organizations looking to replace Windows 10 need to keep in mind that the hardware requirements for Windows 11 are significantly different than for Windows 10, and any hardware being replaced must be capable of running Windows 11. Broadly stated, most PCs made in 2018 and earlier are not supported by Windows 11.
Finally, organizations must consider that combinations of Windows and Office have varying end-of-support dates. (See “Windows and Office Supportability Matrix” on page 8 of the Mar. 2023 On-Premises Software Roadmap.) Therefore, most organizations that run Office subscription products and services on Windows should already be migrating to Windows 11.
