RoadmapCommunication Services
Azure Communications Services offers video and voice calling (over IP), SMS text, chat, and e-mail services that developers can build into applications hosted on Azure or elsewhere.
The communication services are delivered in a PaaS model, so the offering could eliminate the burden for developers to build their own infrastructure for such communications and potentially reduce costs since customers only pay for consumed usage.
Integration with Teams enables Teams application users to communicate with users running non-Teams applications that leverage Azure Communication Services.
The service enables a telephony channel for Azure Bot Services so bots can be accessed by voice phone calls.
REST APIs and SDKs for most popular platforms, including Windows, iOS, and Android, make the service applicable to Web, mobile, desktop, bot, and IoT applications. The service can be securely integrated with back-end services or within clients.
Call automation APIs allow developers to create workflows that use calling services, such as notification calls for utility outages and school closures. E-mail notifications from the service can be sent to end users to, for example, notify them of an upcoming video call.
