Azure Monitor offers a central platform for organizations to gather, analyze, and act on monitoring data from Azure and non-Azure resources. Tools and APIs offered with Monitor help inform administrators and developers about resource performance to make operational decisions, diagnose problems, and improve code.

Recent Monitor features that have become generally available include the following:

Log Analytics Simple mode provides information from logs without requiring user knowledge of Kusto Query Language (KQL)
Log Analytics summary rules regularly summarize (aggregate) data as it is ingested and drop the data records that have been summarized, reducing the amount of storage required.

Simple Log Alerts offer improved performance and streamlined configuration for certain alerts
AI-based analysis of alerts provides possible explanations and remedies for generated alerts
Metrics Usage Insights analyzes
