Office for Mac

Office for Mac is a client application suite for Macs that enables document editing, communication, presentation, and related functions. The edition intended for enterprises includes the following applications:

• Word (document creation)
• Excel (spreadsheet)
• PowerPoint (presentation)
• Outlook (e-mail, calendar, tasks, and contacts)
• OneNote (note-taking and collaboration)
• Teams (communications and collaboration).

Servicing and Support

Office for Mac includes perpetual and subscription suites for business. The perpetually licensed suite offers five years of Mainstream support. The subscription suite is available to users who are licensed for Microsoft 365 and follows the support life-cycle policy of that product, which delivers new versions multiple times a year and offers support for only the two most recent versions. Unlike Office for Windows, Office for Mac suites are not eligible for Extended support.

Historically, major Office for Mac versions have appeared irregularly, with a notable gap between Office for Mac 2011 and Office for Mac 2016. However, the Windows and Mac versions of the suite now follow the same release schedule.
