Table Storage (also known as Azure Tables) is an offering in the Azure Storage collection of services. It’s a simple service for storing any amount of structured, nonrelational NoSQL data that needs a flexible data format with quick deployment and automatic scaling. It’s often used for sharing frequently accessed data like customer lists or gathering data that has inconsistent formats like machine logs.

Product: Table Storage

Licensing: Table Storage

Near-Term Roadmap (2026–2027)

Table Storage is a mature service with little product-specific development. User delegation Shared Access Signature (SAS) became generally available in Jan. 2026, allowing applications to grant limited, temporary access using Entra credentials rather than storage account keys. This reduces the security risks associated with distributing broadly privileged account keys and gives organizations greater control over access to individual tables.

Customer-managed planned failover became generally available in Nov. 2025. It allows organizations to test disaster recovery procedures or move geo-redundant storage accounts to their secondary region without losing data, improving business continuity for applications that depend on Table Storage.
