RoadmapTelephony Services
Telephony services available for Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business Online allow organizations to receive and place external calls on public switched telephone networks (PSTNs) from within Teams or Skype for Business Online, and they can be used to replace or augment traditional private branch exchange (PBX) phone systems.
Capabilities and Limitations
The services providing telephony capabilities include the following:
Audio Conferencing, available in numerous regions, allows meeting attendees to use a phone to connect to Teams or Skype for Business Online meetings when they are unable to attend online.
Phone System provides the hosted equivalent of an on-premises PBX system for users within Teams and Skype for Business Online, including call forwarding, voice mail, call parking, and delegation. Auto Attendant and Call Queue capabilities allow organizations to automatically route inbound calls through a phone tree or distribute them to a pool of eligible agents based on availability.
