The Azure brand has been applied to a wide range of Microsoft offerings, and not all of these are covered in this revision of the Azure Roadmap. These services are covered in the Directions on Microsoft research digest, Update, and some might appear in future revisions of this report. They include the following:

  • Azure Active Directory, which includes a directory service (used by Office 365 and Windows Intune) based on Windows Server Active Directory and enables single sign-on authentication for users of Office 365 and third-party applications that support the service
  • Azure Automation, which automates (often long-running) IT-centric processes using “runbooks” based on PowerShell workflows
  • Azure Backup, which stores backups of data from Windows, Windows Server, and System Center Data Protection Manager 2012 R2
  • Azure Multi-Factor Authentication, which is a service that can provide two-factor authentication to enterprise applications and services, minimizing the risks of users
