SidebarConfigure and Manage Your Server Wizards
Microsoft has improved the Configure and Manage Your Server Wizards, first introduced in Windows 2000 Server, by improving the number of roles supported and by making sure the wizard can perform necessary tasks to initialize and keep the server running in its role.
Configure Your Server. This wizard puts a server into one of several roles, including file, print, application (IIS, ASP.NET), mail (POP3, SMTP), terminal, remote access and virtual private network (VPN), domain controller (Active Directory), domain name service (DNS), distributed host configuration protocol (DHCP), streaming media, and Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS). After selecting the role, the wizard guides the administrator through the installation and initial configuration of the necessary services for the server to assume the chosen role. With Windows Server 2003 shipping with many features and services, such as the Internet Information Service (IIS) no longer installed by default, some administrators may find the Configure Your Server Wizard useful for installing and configuring these services.
