Windows XP will include the next version of Internet Explorer (IE), version 6.0. From a technical and World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) standards perspective, IE 6.0 claims complete support for the Document Object Model (DOM) level 1 and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) level 1, which shows Microsoft’s continuing move to support all Internet standards. It also supports Platform for Privacy Preferences (P3P), which helps users control how much personal information they provide to Web sites.

Several new Explorer bars allow users to customize their browser, including:

  • The Personal Bar, which by default contains a Search box and News, Weather, and Stocks from MSNBC. Users can also customize it to access Web-based tools and services, such as e-mail, calendar, shopping, or communities.
  • The Contacts Bar, which allows users to communicate via the MSN Messenger Service, see which contacts are currently signed in, and manage their contacts.
  • The Media Bar, which allows users to select
