Managed Environments (in contrast with regular, nonmanaged environments, which are supported by all Power Apps licensing options) enable administrators to enforce controls on Power Apps deployments and receive reports that help achieve governance at scale. The feature, which is available with Power Apps Premium, Per App, and Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) licenses (it was added to PAYG licenses in Mar. 2025), could be critical for customers with high Power Apps usage or a large number of Power Apps apps deployed.

Environments are logically isolated areas where apps implemented using Power Apps and other Power Platform entities are stored. Administrators define access control for each environment to specify which users can build apps within which environments. Environments enable segregation of app development and user access. For example, administrators could create development, test, and production environments to enable staging of apps.
