Organizations may deploy Office for Mac instead of the Windows Office suites in volume licensing, but the Mac suite’s capabilities differ from those of the Windows suites.

The current Office suite for the Apple Mac in volume licensing is Office for Mac Standard 2011. Office for Mac Standard 2011 currently includes Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lync, and an Office Web Apps license. It does not include OneNote or Publisher, which are in Office Standard 2010. Office for Mac 2011 also lacks the Access, InfoPath, and SharePoint Workspace applications of Office Professional Plus 2010. However, Office for Mac Standard 2011 users get some Office Professional Plus capabilities. For example, users can add protection to documents with Active Directory Rights Management Services, a capability missing from Office Standard 2010. Office for Mac Standard 2011 also includes SharePoint integration components, so its users can perform common tasks in SharePoint without leaving the Office application and switching to a browser window.
