The Office System is the brand for a line of applications developed by Microsoft’s Business Division and aimed at business users. Listed below are the current Office System products other than the suite, with acronyms sometimes used for those products at Microsoft. The full names of Office System products include the prefix “Microsoft Office,” as in, Microsoft Office Word 2007. Microsoft calls the Office suite itself Microsoft Office with an edition name (e.g., Microsoft Office Professional).

The “Office” prefix will disappear from the names of the next versions of these products, with the exception of the Office suite. For example, the full name of the next version of SharePoint Server will be Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010, not Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010.
