Major developments for Microsoft’s business applications roadmap since the Apr. 2008 Enterprise Software Roadmap include the following:

  • Exchange Hosted Services, Microsoft’s hosted gateway services for e-mail, was updated in May 2008 with new mail filtering features.
  • Microsoft’s acquisition of Norway-based Fast Search and Transfer gives the company an entry in the high-end enterprise search market occupied by vendors such as Autonomy and Endeca.
  • Office 2007 SP2, planned for 2009, will bring PDF and XPS export to the main Office products and add import and export of Open Document Format (ODF) 1.1 files.
  • PerformancePoint Server 2007 SP1 shipped in June 2008, adding support for Windows Server 2008.
  • A pair of add-ons released in the first quarter of 2008 improve PerformancePoint Server’s data integration and management reporting features.
  • The most recent version of Dynamics AX, AX 2009, shipped in June 2008.
  • CRM Online Microsoft’s hosted customer relationship management
