Major developments for Microsoft’s business applications roadmap since the May 2011 Enterprise Software Roadmap include the following:

  • SP1 shipped for 2010 versions of the Office, SharePoint, Project, and Visio products, updating both clients and servers.
  • Exchange Server 2010 SP2 was announced and is expected by the end of 2011.
  • New versions of Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Lync Online were launched in June 2011 with the Office 365, a set of plans that combine Microsoft-hosted services with Office Professional Plus subscriptions.
  • Skype, which operates a public real-time communications service that has over 170 million connected users, agreed to be acquired by Microsoft.
  • A browser-based meeting scheduling interface shipped for Lync Server, restoring a feature that was available in its predecessor, Communications Server, but missing from Lync Server at launch.
  • Dynamics CRM and Dynamics CRM Online release plans were revised; the products will get twice-yearly
