Major changes in Microsoft’s systems management roadmap since the Aug. 2009 Enterprise Software Roadmap include the following:
- Support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 was added in Configuration Manager 2007 SP2, Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2, and several components of the Desktop Optimization Pack 2009 R2, all of which shipped in Oct. 2009. Public betas of Data Protection Manager 2010 and Service Manager 2010 were also released.
- Microsoft announced revised naming for the next versions of Forefront products, expected in late 2009 and 2010, and beta or release candidate versions of several Forefront products became available for testing.
- New service packs were released for two Forefront products: SP2 for Forefront Security for Exchange Server and SP3 for Forefront Security for SharePoint.
- Antigen products, which are still available to Forefront server security customers to protect older Microsoft product versions, also got updates: SP2 for Antigen for Exchange with
