Major changes in Microsoft’s systems management roadmap since the Aug. 2008 Enterprise Software Roadmap include the following:
- Configuration Manager R2 was released in Aug. 2008. It includes coordination with Application Virtualization, SQL Server Reporting Services, and improved integration with Forefront Client Security.
- Operations Manager 2007 SP1 received an update to support Windows Server 2008. A beta version of Operations Manager 2007 R2 was released in Nov. 2008.
- Virtual Machine Manager 2008 was released in Nov. 2008 with support for Microsoft and VMware virtualization technologies, patching of VMs offline, and better response to problems detected by Systems Center Operations Manager.
- Forefront Client Security SP1 was released in Aug. 2008. Among other improvements, it can run on and protect Windows Server 2008.
- Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2006 SP1 shipped in July 2008; it enhances configuration and troubleshooting tools but does not support
