Major changes in Microsoft’s systems management roadmap since the Dec. 2008 Enterprise Software Roadmap include the following:

  • Mobile Device Manager 2008 SP1 shipped in Dec. 2008. It includes support for multiple instances of Mobile Device Manager to manage groups of devices, PIN reset by administrators or user self-service, and support for running with Windows Server 2008 Active Directory Domain Services.
  • Data Protection Manager 2007 SP1 was released in Dec. 2008 with added support for protecting Hyper-V and its virtual machines, and new features for protecting SharePoint servers, mirrored SQL Server databases, and Exchange Standby Continuous Replication nodes.
  • A release candidate of Operations Manager 2007 R2 was released in Mar. 2009.
  • Beta versions of Configuration Manager 2007 SP2, Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2, and Service Manager were released.
  • Forefront Security for Communications Server shipped in Mar. 2009 with support for Communications Server 2007 R2.
