Previous versions of FrontPage included a set of server components called FrontPage Server Extensions (FPSEs) designed to help users publish content to Web servers and to build more advanced features, such as searching, into Web sites without requiring FrontPage users to write code or script. FPSEs are supported by many popular Web servers, such as the Apache Web Server running on Linux, as well as on Microsofts own Internet Information Server (IIS).
