With Windows 10 version 1703, Microsoft disclosed more details about what diagnostic (telemetry) data Windows 10 collects, which could help regulated businesses configure their computers and assess risk. Microsoft lists four diagnostic data collection levels for Windows 10 Enterprise edition:

Security level gathers only the telemetry information that is required to keep Windows devices protected with the latest security updates. This level is available only on Windows 10 Enterprise, Education, Mobile Enterprise, and Windows IoT Core editions. In rare instances, this data may unintentionally contain personally identifiable information (PII).

Basic level gathers between 109 and 159KB per day of data that Microsoft deems critical for understanding a device and its configuration, which helps Microsoft identify problems occurring on specific hardware or software configurations.

Enhanced level gathers between 239 and 348KB of data per day about how Windows and apps are used and how they perform, which helps Microsoft improve the user experience with the OS and applications. This is the default diagnostic (telemetry) collection level for Windows 10 Enterprise and Education editions.
