  • Dynamics 365 Operations uses à la carte packaging for applications, add-ons, and other integrated services.
  • Mapping user requirements to required licenses is a complex effort that must be maintained to control costs.
  • License compliance requires considerable vigilance and manual review to avoid noncompliance issues.

Dynamics 365 Operations (also called Unified Operations and Finance & Operations) is a label given to a collection of enterprise resource planning (ERP) and commerce (retail) applications that run together in a customer’s tenancy, sharing a common storage infrastructure that contains databases and files. These core business applications in the Operations lineup are primarily licensed separately via their own User Subscription Licenses (User SLs) and Device SLs, with additional storage-related fees if certain default thresholds are exceeded. Each application can also be augmented, at additional charge, with a variety of Dynamics 365–branded offerings.
