Azure HDInsight is a Microsoft-hosted database service based on Apache’s Hadoop open-source software framework, a popular solution for managing and analyzing Big Data. Big Data, as the name suggests, is a source of large volumes of data, such as Web logs, streaming media posts, stock market trades, and machine sensor data. Big Data can have a variety of content types and is often captured and processed at high speed. Recent updates improve HDInsight’s use and interaction with other Azure services, which should interest enterprises considering Azure as a destination for existing or new workloads.
