Analyst ReportAzure Data Share Explained
- Azure Data Share can help Azure customers share static data snapshots with other organizations on Azure.
- The service can distribute datasets for recurring purposes to internal business units or external partners and customers.
- It provides better flexibility, security, and data governance than traditional data-sharing methods.
- Calculating costs is difficult, and the service is limited to working with only a few Azure data services.
Azure Data Share enables customers to distribute bulk data snapshots from Azure data services such as Azure Storage Blobs to other customers on those services. The Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering is quick to deploy and scale, and it can provide better security and data governance than traditional data-sharing solutions, such as FTPs, APIs, e-mail, and extract, transform, and load (ETL) solutions. However, all participants must be Azure customers, using a limited set of Azure data services, and the costs may be prohibitive in some scenarios.
