Support for Office suites on Windows Server is declining, putting some server-based Office deployments at risk. The accompanying chart shows the current end-of-support dates for combinations of Microsoft’s Office suites and versions of Windows Server. Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise, the Office software suite that comes with Microsoft 365 subscriptions, will no longer be supported on any version of Windows Server after Oct. 2026. It is unclear how long Office applications will be supported in any form on Windows Server thereafter.

Versions of Windows Server are listed vertically on the left; the second column shows the announced date when each Windows Server version leaves Extended support or, in the case of Windows Server 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, and 2012 R2, when Extended Security Updates (ESUs) are no longer available for deployments hosted outside Azure.

Versions of Office are listed horizontally on the top. The second row shows the date when each version is no longer supported for connectivity with Microsoft-hosted Office 365 services such as SharePoint Online. The third row shows the announced date when each version leaves Extended support.
