Why Teams Rooms Pro Is the Only Real Enterprise Option

Microsoft Teams Rooms is a Device Subscription License (Device SL) for shared meeting room devices like Surface Hub and Microsoft-certified Teams collaboration bars, with both Pro and Basic license tiers. Earlier Standard and Premium offerings were retired on Sept. 6, 2022, and can no longer be purchased, and the previously common practice of assigning Microsoft 365 or Office 365 User Subscription Licenses (User SLs) to shared meeting room devices is unsupported and blocked as of Sept. 30, 2023. This leaves Teams Rooms Pro, which includes remote device management and monitoring, Teams Phone, and several other Teams Rooms device capabilities not included in limited Basic offering, as the only workable option for customers managing sizable deployments of Teams Rooms devices.
