Analyst ReportDynamics 365 Mandates HR Migration by Mid-2024
- The Human Resources application is losing its stand-alone status and moving to the Finance + Operations platform.
- At the same time, HR features from the Finance and Supply Chain Management applications are relocating to the new Human Resources application.
- Oddly, only the application is moving, and not the data, which will impact Finance and SCM customers most.
- Although customer benefits are minimal, the move is mandatory, resulting in an IT migration project and potentially requiring new licenses.
Dynamics 365 Human Resources, an application in the Dynamics 365 Finance + Operations group of business applications, is currently experiencing upheaval due to what Microsoft calls the “Human Resources infrastructure merge project.” The project objective is to consolidate multiple Human Resources (HR) solutions and data into a single application that resides on the Finance + Operations infrastructure, reducing overall support and complexity. The project, announced in late 2021, went live in Dec. 2022 and customers are expected to migrate and adopt the new application before the middle of 2024, although no set date has been announced. The change may require relicensing some users, which will either lower or raise cost, depending on the customer’s scenario.
