Service Overview

Azure SQL Database (and now SQL Managed Instance) are multitenant relational database management services hosted in Azure. They are designed for organizations seeking a hosted database service with low cost, quick deployment, scalability, and global reach. The services are based on the latest version of the SQL Server software and offers many of the most common database management features and APIs offered with its parent software, which is traditionally deployed on-premises. The services include high-availability, disaster recovery, and replication features, which also deliver globally distributed data sharing.
