Near-Term Updates and Roadmap (2026)
Updates
Recent Finance updates focus on globalization, predictability, governance, and performance from planning to execution. A consistent theme of recent updates is reducing risk through proactive controls—from built-in prerequisite checks for electronic reporting configurations to validation during budget writeback. These controls help teams avoid failures, rework, and late-stage surprises. The end-of-year updates also included a large number of global updates that continue to show Microsoft’s commitment to large enterprises with multiple geographic locations.
Roadmap
The Finance roadmap primarily focuses on improving data consistency, reducing manual effort through the use of agentic AI, and increasing timeliness and reliability of financial processes. The bulk of the items show release dates of Sep. 2026, which is right before the next wave. This typically indicates that the development team doesn’t have a real-schedule for release, but are attempting to meet a deadline. Customers should not plan on any of these features making it by Sep. 2026.
