Dynamics NAV 2015, the most recent update of Microsoft’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution for small and midsized organizations, became generally available in Oct. 2014. It includes a banking integration service that connects to a wide range of banks to automate data transfers, and reconciliation features that should help customers better manage cash flow. Other improvements that should help with user adoption include simplified user-based report creation, customizable tablet applications, and user-interface (UI) configuration features. Most new features require administrative work and user training, and migrating from versions prior to NAV 2013 may require reinstallation.

User Functionality Improvements

Key functional improvements include the following:

Banking integration. A new bank data conversion service automates sending and receiving bank data and is available for connecting to most major banks in more than 25 countries. The Microsoft-hosted service is free to NAV 2015 customers; however, it does require access to Azure. Other banking improvements include enhanced reconciliation features with advanced record matching and review tools, and improvements to match vendor payments with bank receipts to avoid duplicate processing, which should help reduce current manual processes.
