Charts & IllustrationsDynamics 365 Server and CRM Server Timeline
The most recent version for Dynamics 365 Server is 9.0.2, which was released on Oct. 31, 2018. In Microsoft’s documentation and life cycle details the release is called “Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement apps, Version 9.0.2, On-premises update.”
Before arriving on-premises, Version 9.0.2 was originally released to online customers in Apr. 2018, which is typical of the 6- to 18-month release gap between the online service and on-premises. The next on-premises version, listed here as 9.1, was released to the online service in Oct. 2018 and is scheduled for an on-premises release a year later in Oct. 2019.
The current on-premises version, 9.0.2, also marks a change in the support life cycle for the server product. It maintains five years of Mainstream support but reduces Extended support to two years. Consequently, version 9.0.2 will end Extended support at the same time as the previous CRM 2016 version, 8.2. In other products, such as Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, this type of change in life cycle support was followed by a further shortening of support in subsequent versions. Consequently, customers will likely see version 10.0, planned for Oct. 2020, arrive with a three-year life cycle, or the product might adopt the modern life cycle and be updated continuously.
